"Dohrn's compact script bristles with sharp, breezy dialogue... A comic setup that spins into deeply affecting territory.
—San Francisco Chronicle

Reborning bandies between levity and loss without missing a beat... Just the right balance of rawness and finesse... Reborning proves that grim topics and taboos can also be damn funny."

 ABOUT REBORNING

Reborning, by Zayd Dohrn, is a dark comedy about loss, healing, the meaning of motherhood and the mystery of creation.

A troubled young artist, Kelly, who makes her living crafting Reborn Dolls, created to look like real babies, finds her world shaken by an obsessive client who is desperate to recapture a piece of her past. As the parameters between life and art become blurred by desire, Kelly struggles to keep her life from spiraling out of control.

At its core, Reborning is about the changing face of femininity and motherhood. It's about a young woman trying to define her life on her own terms in the 21st century, a time when identity is changing.

WHY REBORNING?

One of our goals is to provide opportunities to talented young artists to realize a dream project.

Tiffany Groben, an up-and-coming Oregon theater player, introduced us to the script for Reborning.

We see the play as saying something special and unique about gender and social roles in this era, so it's a great inaugural production for our company.
